The Musical Offering begins our 44th season with a program highlighting Hungary’s influence in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The afternoon’s concert opens with one of Haydn’s most beloved piano trios, the Trio in G Major known as the “Gypsy.” Next, we hear Endre Szervánszky’s textured Wind Quintet No. 1, followed by Brahms’s rich and autumnal Piano Quartet No. 1 in G Minor, which features a thrilling final movement he called a “Gypsy rondo” – it’s a quartet-sized Hungarian dance that will take your breath away!
