Flutist Jane Garvin introduces us to Ferdinand Ries’ Flute Quartet and pianist Tim Lovelace joins us for a chamber music rarity: Gustav Mahler’s Piano Quartet and the Soviet composer Alfred Schnittke’s piece inspired by Mahler’s work. The concert concludes with Johannes Brahms’ pastoral Serenade in its original instrumentation.
