In our opening concert’s intermission interview, artistic director Norbert Neilubowski explained how struggles within the Minnesota Orchestra have implications throughout Minnesota. Minnesota Orchestra musicians hold teaching positions at major universities, perform in their own professional ensembles (like The Musical Offering!), and nurture the outstanding arts community we are fortunate enough to have. Massive salary cuts chip away at their ability to, in effect, compound their benefits–let alone raise a family and own a home.
The Musical Offering remains firmly supportive of the musicians through this lockout. Join us in support by attending their next concert! Thursday, October 18th at 7:30pm at the Minneapolis Convention Center Auditorium, the musicians are joined by Stanislaw Skrowaczewski in performance of Antonin Dvorak’s Cello Concerto in B Minor, Opus 104 and Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5 in D Minor, Opus 47.
